As the NCAA men's basketball tournament continues, the stage is set for Maryland and Kansas to clash as part of the Sweet 16.

The Terrapins defeated South Dakota State, 79-74, on Mar. 18 and followed suit by toppling Hawaii, 73-60, on Sunday to advance this far. Melo Trimble chipped in a game-high 24 points in the latest win. Trimble has paved the way with 21.5 points per game thus far.

The Jayhawks thrashed Austin Peay, 105-79, on Mar. 17 and then handed UConn a 73-61 defeat last Saturday to get to the Sweet 16. Wayne Selden had 22 points in the win, while Perry Ellis notched 21 of his own. Ellis has paced Kansas with 21 points per game to this point.

Kansas has won 16 straight games, and though it has quite the test in Maryland, the team isn't ready to buckle.

"I'm not too worried about that situation because we're pretty battle-tested and have been through a lot," Selden told ESPN Wednesday. "We've been in just about every position we could be in and been in tough positions where we've dug ourselves out of it. That's been our mode lately."

Maryland expects a tough battle, but doesn't believe Kansas will be taking it lightly.

"I expect Kansas to play well and expect us to play well," Maryland coach Mark Turgeon said via ESPN. "Our guys will be fired up because they have a lot of respect for Kansas, and they're the best team in the tournament. That gets our attention."

The winner of this meeting will take on the victor of the other South bracket game pitting Miami against Villanova.
