The field is down to 16 teams as March Madness resumes play Monday night when Miami and Villanova go head-to-head in the NCAA tournament.

The Hurricanes dropped Buffalo, 79-72, on Mar. 17 and Wichita State, 65-57, on Saturday to advance this far. Angel Rodriguez had a game-high 28 points for Miami in its latest win. The senior paces the Hurricanes with 26 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

The Wildcats have advanced to the Sweet 16 after knocking off UNC Asheville, 86-56, on Mar. 18 and Iowa, 87-68, last Sunday. Josh Hart put up 19 points in the last game, while Ryan Arcidiancono leads the team with 15 points and 4 rebounds per game.

Villanova head coach Jay Wright has a close connection with Miami bench boss Jim Larranaga, but it will all be thrown out the window come tipoff.

"When you get to the Sweet 16, final eight, Final Four that kind of goes away," Wright said Wednesday of any bonds he has heading into the game, according to ESPN. "I don't know why. Because you're so focused on what you do, you're so happy to be here. And usually, when you get to this point, it's guys you know."

Larranaga noted that he was happy to get to know Wright and discuss the game they both love with him.

"I've just enjoyed getting to know him and exchanging drills with him and talking basketball," he said, according to ESPN.

The winner of this game will meet up with the winner of the other South bracket game between Kansas and Maryland in the Elite Eight.
