It appeared the Roman Empire was destined to reach its peak last March at WrestleMania 31.

Roman Reigns entered Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. for a clash with then-WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar.

Everyone and their mother believed the former Shield member would escape the biggest show of the year and his first headlining match at the WWE's cornerstone event with the gold.

Then, the WWE creative team shocked the world, opting to have Seth Rollins cash in his Money in the Bank contract to turn it into a Triple Threat Match. "The Architect" foiled his former Hounds of Justice partner by hitting him with a Curb Stomp and capturing the richest prize in the game.

Will history repeat itself at WrestleMania 32, or will the WWE finally complete a full-blown Reigns mega push?

The leader of the Roman Empire is booked for his second straight WrestleMania main event as he'll stand across the ring from current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H on April 3 at AT&T Stadium in Texas. It's likely, as usual, that Reigns will be booed by the majority of fans in attendance.

The problem is, this isn't your typical arena, this is more than 80,000 boisterous fans filing into a huge stadium and threatening to absolutely turn on the company's top babyface in the most important match of the year.

That frightening horror show of a thought is reason enough to wonder if the Triple H-Reigns encounter will even close the show.

It also brings up questions as to whether or not the WWE will once again get cold feet because of the fan backlash. They did it last year with Reigns. They did it the year before by having Daniel Bryan win the main event instead of Batista. It may happen again in 2016.

While Reigns has still been booked strong and has shown some improvements, the WWE is still forcing him into being their top babyface when he isn't fully ready. Though he's received favorable booking, the creative use of him has also shown more proof that the company has had some reservations about fully making him "the man."

When Reigns finally did win the belt at Survivor Series, he was immediately dethroned by Sheamus cashing in his contract. After he won it again on "RAW" in December, his reign was short-lived as Triple H won the Royal Rumble Match to capture the title.

It's possible the WWE did this as a way to stack the deck against Reigns and save his true moment for WrestleMania, but the thought of him going from zero to three reigns with the title in just over a three-month span is daunting.

The WWE has to know how the fans are going to react yet again and must have a contingency plan for WrestleMania.

A Rollins or Randy Orton return, Dean Ambrose, John Cena or Reigns heel turn, McMahon family interference or any other swerve is always possible, but the WWE may be stubborn enough to go through with the Reigns title win anyway.

That decision may risk turning the WWE's marquee event into a full-scale fan revolt.

Will Roman Reigns leave 'WrestleMania 32' as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
