Lamar Odom may still be recovering after nearly losing his life, but that hasn't stopped him from dreaming big.

The two-time NBA champion suffered a near-fatal overdose at a Nevada brothel in October, but the experience has only given him a new perspective about what's important to him.

The two biggest dreams he has may be farfetched, but he's hoping for a return to the NBA and to rekindle his romance with wife Khloe Kardashian.

"Just like returning to the NBA may be a pipe dream, so is a reconciliation with Khloe, but both are dreams of his and keep him dedicated to work hard," a source close to the former NBA star told HollywoodLife.com. "If he can achieve either dream, NBA or get back with Khloe, it would be the ultimate comeback."

Odom, 36, hasn't played in the NBA since the 2012-13 season with the Clippers, and given his long road to recovery and increasing age, that dream may never come true.

The former basketball star also wouldn't still be married to Kardashian right now if it wasn't for his incident in October. The reality star was all set to go through with a divorce from him, but she put the proceedings on hold to support him emotionally and financially through his recovery.

Kardashian may not want to rekindle the romance with Odom, but she's been a great source of inspiration to him during his recovery. The "Kocktails with Khloe" star has been by his side and even helped him make his first public appearance after his ordeal.

"Khloe has been his inspiration," the source said. "He still has caregivers to keep an eye on him, but he's been practicing basketball and hitting the gym and weight room. His dreams of returning to the NBA may be far from reality, but his hope of what might be possible is keeping him motivated to make progress and work hard every day."

Kardashian has revealed she plans to go forward with the divorce proceedings again down the line, but she also lashed out against critics of her decision to spend so much time with Odom.

"I don't think anything, like, romantically about Lamar," she explained on the March 9 episode of 'Kocktails With Khloe.' "I'm coming from a place of complete care and concern and I want Lamar's well-being, but people find that so bizarre for some reason. I genuinely care about someone's well-being and I want them to be happy. When you spend that many years with someone, they will always be in your life."

The reality star may not think romantically about Odom anymore and an NBA return may be a very farfetched notion, but at least the former basketball star hasn't stopped dreaming.
