The New York Knicks are on pace to miss the playoffs for the third straight season, which is the main reason why some fans have already lost their trust in team president Phil Jackson.

But for Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant, Knicks fans need not worry and just keep their faith in Jackson because he believes the Hall of Famer knows what he is doing in New York.

"People in New York just need to trust the fact that he knows more about basketball than any of them put together," Bryant said of Jackson on Sunday night, via ESPN, after the Lakers took a 90-87 loss to the Knicks at Staples Center.

Bryant is very familiar with Jackson, having played under the tutelage of the "triangle offense" master for 11 seasons in Los Angeles. The 37-year-old superstar and Jackson won five titles together in Los Angeles and were consistent title contenders even after the Lakers traded Shaquille O'Neal in 2004.

"In my opinion, he's the greatest coach in any profession. Ever," Bryant added.

Bryant also said that Jackson, who has won 11 championships as a coach, has all the tools to excel as team president, pointing out that his current task is not too different from his previous job as head coach.

"What he does now is really understanding the personnel," Bryant continued. "But that's no different than what he did as a coach. As a coach, he would have broke down the players, understood the players. That's the same thing he has to do as a GM."

Jackson is expected to make several moves in the offseason in the hope of ending their playoff drought. The 70-year-old will look for a new coach after firing Derek Fisher earlier in the season. The Knicks are also expected to become one of the most active teams in free agency and on the trade front this summer.

The Knicks, who are currently in 13th place in the Eastern Conference standings, will have at least $18 million cap space this summer, which is enough to add another superstar in the roster. Jackson told reporters on Friday that some agents have already called them to convince him to sign their players.
