If it's true, the NFL should be resigned to the fact that it will forever face player discipline issues because its teams just can't help themselves.
The Cleveland Browns have not released quarterback Johnny Manziel --- who may or may not have been drunk during the week of practice leading up to their final regular-season game, who has completely thumbed his nose at the franchise by spending his offseason going from one party to the next and completely destroying his act of going to rehab during the 2015 offseason, and who also happens to be facing the possibility of being charged with domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend --- because there may be interest in a trade for his services, according to Cleveland.com.
Cleveland Browns Hoping To Save Money By Holding Onto Johnny Manziel
Not from one team. Not from two teams.
"But as many as three teams might be interested in Manziel, a source said, and that's enough for the Browns to give it a day or two to see if anyone bites," Cleveland.com reported.

"If they felt there was no interest, they would've waived him Wednesday and put the ugly saga behind them. But if a team trades for Manziel, it would assume the remainder of his contract. He has guaranteed base salaries in 2016 and 2017 of $1,169,872 and $1,004,125, and is due a $250,000 roster bonus on the fifth league day of 2017."
It is not known whether the San Francisco 49ers are one of those teams, but the Browns have contacted them about a trade for 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, according to ESPN, and would be remiss if they didn't at least ask San Francisco about considering Manziel as part of the compensation package.
The thought being that 49ers coach Chip Kelly recruited Manziel when he coached at Oregon and if he could somehow get Manziel on the right path would have a quarterback he believes is suited for his offense.
Kelly wants an accurate quarterback, which is Kaepernick's issue. Manziel has many issues, but accuracy is not considered among them.
But supposedly three teams at least have considered the possibility of acquiring Manziel when 32 teams have turned their back on Ray Rice over his domestic violence issue.
He has worn disguises at times when he's been out partying, so he clearly understands he's doing things he's not supposed to, and lately, there has been no trying to even hide his demons. They're out in the open.
For teams to have an interest should be utterly shocking and alarming to the NFL, in terms of policing its players moving forward.
