Freshman Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb has been solid this year, but he's in for a true test when he goes up against Oklahoma's top-ranked pass defense.

On the season, Webb is 107-for-176 (60.8%) for 1,427 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions helping to lead Texas Tech to its best start since 2008.

Webb became the team's first freshman quarterback to pass for 400 yards in his first two starts after throwing for 462 yards in last week's comeback victory over West Virginia. He threw a pair of 10-yard touchdowns to Jace Amaro in the win.

"The more reps he gets, the better he gets and the more confidence he gets," said head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who played quarterback for the Red Raiders from 1999-2002. "It's encouraging to have a young QB like that and have guys step up around him and make those plays."

Amaro has three touchdowns this year and 56 receptions for 742 yards.

Oklahoma is coming off of a 34-19 victory over Kansas last week and has allowed an average of 149.7 yards per game, the fewest in the nation after allowing just 201 total yards in last week's victory.

While its defense has been solid, coach Bob Stoops noted that the offense could be better.

"You have to play well as a team," Stoops said via ESPN. "Offense is part of defense. When you play teams that have high-powered offenses, you've got to stay on the field too. You play together as a team. You have to complement one another, offensively and defensively. Hopefully we can do that."

Quarterback Blake Bell has gone 99-for-155 (63.9%) for 1,099 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions.

Texas Tech looks to continue its strong start while Oklahoma will try to keep up its dominance on defense and get its offense going when these teams hit the field this afternoon.
