Manny Pacquiao, the only man in boxing history to win titles in eight different weight divisions, is training so hard that his trainer, Hall of Famer Freddie Roach, wants him to slow down so that he won't get burned out a month before he fights dangerous Brandon Rios in Macau.

As ABS-CBN.com reports, the legendary boxing trainer has indicated his desire for his prized student to take it slow in training.

"We need to slow him down and make the pace a little bit slower," he was quoted as saying.

Roach admitted that Pacquiao can be very difficult to restrain in training, as the former pound for pound king is dead serious in reclaiming his throne as the best boxer in the world by knocking out the upstart Rios. Roach told the website that: "It is very difficult to hold Manny Pacquiao back but sometimes we've got to hold on and tackle him but he knows, he has common sense so we'll make the workouts a little shorter and not so many rounds of sparring."

Roach and his team said that because Pacquiao is no longer a spring chicken at 34 years of age, it would be more practical to reserve his energy for the actual fight against Rios. They added that an overtrained PacMan could be vulnerable and tired against a younger fighter in the mold of Rios.

After a forgettable 2012 which saw him drop consecutive matches including a knock-out to Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacquiao is training intensively in the Philippines for his fight against Rios on November 24.
