Carmelo Anthony will play a bigger role for the New York Knicks in free agency in the offseason. And this early, the All-Star forward already declared that he will do his to convince fellow superstars to move to the Big Apple.
Anthony hinted in a recent interview that he will likely help the Knicks in their pursuit of All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo, who is expected to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Rondo, who has been linked to the Knicks numerous times before, recently said that the "Triangle Offense" the Knicks are running is not too appealing to him. But for Anthony, Rondo is perfect for their intricate system. Anthony believes that Rondo will love the triangle offense once he get accustomed to the system.
"Some of the keys of our offense is penetration, getting in the paint, pushing the pace, transition, creating in the paint for bigs, for yourself, everybody else," Anthony said via ESPN. "I think a point guard would love that, especially a point guard who can penetrate, create for yourself, create for others. I think it's a perfect opportunity for him."

The Knicks, who are on pace to miss the playoffs for the third straight season, are expected to become one of the most active teams in free agency, as they will be armed with at least $18 million of cap space, which is enough to sign another superstar to pair with Anthony.
However, the Knicks have failed to land big names in the past. Last summer, the Knicks tried to lure LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan, but the two coveted free agents signed with the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers, respectively.
Anthony was not too involved in the past when it comes to recruiting free agents, but the 31-year-old superstar said that he will be more active in convincing players to play in New York.
"If we want this team to be better, if we want more pieces of this team, I don't have a choice but to go out there and do my job and try to get people to come," Anthony said. "And for them to see it from my perspective than anybody else's perspective."
