Erin Andrews Stalker Lawsuit Update: Sportscaster's Victory Not As Financially Rewarding As it Seems [VIDEO]

Erin Andrews scored a well-deserved $55 million victory in her peephole lawsuit, but it's unlikely she'll ever see all of the money.

Obviously cash can't erase the emotional scorn the sportscaster was forced to endure, but the lawsuit win at least ensures that disgraced former insurance executive Michael David Barrett won't get away with the perverted acts he committed.

Marriott Defends Itself Against Online Petitions

It was declared that Barrett is responsible for $28 million in damages for filming a naked Andrews through a peephole and posting it on the Internet in 2009, while the Marriott hotel is liable to pay $27 million. Being that Barrett is not a millionaire, it's unlikely Andrews will ever come close to collecting what he owes.

Marriott, meanwhile, is likely to appeal and will probably have its punishment slashed due to Andrews not suffering any physical harm, according to TMZ, which cites law experts who believe the hotel's amount will be cut to somewhere around $20 million.

Andrews also has plenty of legal fees to payout for lawyers and the costs of preparing the case. Throwing in taxes owed for winning the case without physical injuries, it is expected that the sportscaster will end up with $6 million, not the lofty $55 million that has been awarded to her, per TMZ.

For Andrews, the victory at least likely provides closure and vindication after she was victimized by a perverted man with a camera. The Fox Sports reporter revealed in her testimony that she now has trust issues and feels "humiliated, embarrassed and obsessive about checking the Internet" ever since the incident.

Though the sum of her victory isn't quite what it seems, maybe Andrews will be able to find closure now that the lawsuit has concluded.
