Sami Zayn stormed onto the main roster this week on "RAW," and hopefully the WWE gives him a chance to potentially steal the show at WrestleMania 32.
Potential Feuds For Seth Rollins When He Returns
The Canadian Superstar attacked fellow Quebecer Kevin Owens on the flagship show, which will hopefully lead to a one-on-one clash for the Intercontinental Championship on April 3.
Here's why Zayn vs. Owens is best for business at WrestleMania.
John Cena's Big Announcement Tease Could Be Engagement To Nikki Bella
1) Rich Rivalry
There is plenty of history between these two combatants, most of which originated in NXT. Using vignettes to sum up their rivalry could only generate more interest for the WWE's minor league system.
Owens and Zayn had all-out wars prior to KO's call up to the main roster and they can add another chapter to their long-running feud at WrestleMania. The rivalry escalated when Zayn eliminated Owens from the Royal Rumble Match in January before reappearing on Monday.
2) Title Fight
WrestleMania is known for some amazing one-on-one Intercontinental Championship clashes. Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage set the bar at WrestleMania III (1987), Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. "Rowdy Roddy Piper stood out at WrestleMania VIII (1992) and there are countless other great clashes over the midcard belt.
There were rumors Owens will defend the title in a multi-man match, which could include Zayn, but the most memorable IC title bouts in history are one-one-one matches. Last year's six-person Ladder Match was fun, but this year, the WWE should try to go old school by having two rivals tear each other apart over the belt. It will only make the title more prestigious in the long run.
3) Stealing The Show
The WrestleMania 32 card is a bit odd so far. The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon match is one of the strangest pairings in the history of the show. The main event is almost guaranteed to be polarizing since not many fans are behind Roman Reigns and Triple H has a lot of haters in his own right. The Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar match will be a nice showcase for the "Lunatic Fringe," but the outcome there seems obvious.
All three bouts may deliver, but if the WWE really wants to up the odds of giving the fans something to remember, putting on an Owens vs. Zayn match and giving the two experienced wrestlers 20-30 minutes to perform is the right call.
