As Peyton Manning called it a career Monday, his successor was also in the headlines.

Brock Osweiler was involved in a bit of a physical altercation at 2 a.m. Saturday outside of an Arizona pizza shop, according to TMZ. Osweiler, his wife Erin and their friends stopped to grab a pie after watching their friend Kelley James perform earlier in the night.

From there, things escalated.

Another group heckled Osweiler and his friends, according to TMZ, and a woman came after the quarterback's wife. The Broncos signal-caller then used some physical force to keep the woman at bay and protect his wife as a routine pizza stop almost turned into a melee.

Broncos Don't Value Brock Osweiler As Top-20 QB

A person in the other group then pushed Osweiler from behind when his back was turned, but rather than further the situation, the quarterback wisely gathered everyone into their waiting car and took off. It was a very smart move at a time when NFL players are making a bad name for themselves left and right.

Rather than impact his career by drawing negative attention on himself, Osweiler had the wherewithal to get out of the sticky situation without throwing a punch. It was a very smart move, considering the Broncos just offered him a three-year deal laced with incentives.

Though Osweiler can afford all the pizza in the world once he signs the new contract, which will have to be done sometime before Wednesday, he may think twice about getting some at 2 a.m. in Arizona.
