The Redskins have officially parted ways with Robert Griffin III, giving interested a chance to make a push to acquire the quarterback this offseason.

ESPN SportsCenter anchor Dianna Marie Russini first revealed on Monday morning that the Redskins have decided to release Griffin, who did not see action for Washington last season.

But despite not getting opportunity to show what he is made off last season, Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report said that Griffin will still be a hot commodity in free agency, revealing that at least 10 teams are expected to make an offer to the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

"Despite all that we know about Robert Griffin III, according to interviews with a half-dozen front-office talent evaluators, he remains the most intriguing figure in the free-agent sweepstakes that begin this month," Freeman said. "There are at least 10 teams giving Griffin a hard look, these sources say."

While Freeman did not reveal the teams who could make a run at RGIII, CBS Sports named the Cowboys as a potential suitor. Dallas is currently looking for a quarterback to backup and eventually take the starting role from Tony Romo. They were also linked to Johnny Manziel earlier this year, but Griffin is currently the logical choice.

Former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman said in January the Cowboys should focus on signing Griffin instead of Manziel, who had troublesome rookie and sophomore seasons with the Browns.

"I think that based on some of the other things that have happened in Dallas, a lot of the spotlight that's happened with some of the players that they've brought in, I think RGIII would be the guy who would cause the less ripple effect throughout the organization," Aikman told Sports Illustrated.

The 49ers are also expected to be linked to Griffin because of new coach Chip Kelly. Colin Kaepernick is still with the 49ers, but the star quarterback has reportedly asked for a trade late last month, ESPN reported.

Aside from the Cowboys and 49ers, the Browns, Broncos, Jets, Texans, Rams, Seahawks, Packers and Patriots were also mentioned as potential landing spots for Griffin this offseason.
