If the Denver Broncos have moved on from Peyton Manning, they may or may not be sold on Brock Osweiler, either.
The Broncos have offered a contract to Oswald believed to be in excess of quarterback Nick Foles' contract with the Los Angeles Rams worth $12.27 million per year, the Denver Post reported.
Los Angeles Rams Only Logical Option For Peyton Manning If He Wants To Return
That would make Osweiler the 21st highest paid quarterback in the NFL, according to CBS Sports, which calls the contract offer a "big gamble" on the part of the Broncos.
On the part of the Broncos? Foles lost his job midway through the 2015 season with the Rams, which missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year under coach Jeff Fisher.

Osweiler kept the Broncos in position to attain home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Sounds like he should be making plenty more than the benched Foles.
Sure, Osweiler has only eight starts during his four-year career, but he did go 5-2 filling in for an injured Manning before the veteran came back in the second half of the regular-season finale to lead a comeback victory over the San Diego Chargers.
Manning then guided Denver through the playoffs that culminated with its Super Bowl 50 win over the Carolina Panthers.
But Manning made $15 million last season, and Osweiler's 86.4 passing efficiency rating blew away Manning's 67.9.
"Considering his lack of track record, a deal that large for Osweiler would be a fairly big gamble by the Broncos," CBS Sports reported. "It's certainly possible they felt they saw enough in Osweiler's short stint to prove he can be a capable starting quarterback, but that's still a lot of money to give a 25-year-old with four years of experience but only 305 passes under his belt."
Osweiler has not yet agreed; the sides have until Monday to reach an agreement or he becomes a free agent.
Manning is scheduled to make $19 million in 2016 if Denver keeps him on the roster. The Broncos, however, did not ask the 39-year-old to take a physical by Friday's deadline.
"The contract language calls for him to be available for the examination, but only if requested by the team," the Post reported.
Denver may have to increase its bid to retain Osweiler, or it may be searching for another quarterback in free agency.
