Louis Delmas Alligator: Delmas Getting Rid Of Pet Reptile 'Mojo' As Teammate Kevin Ogletree Moves In [PHOTO]

Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas is gaining a roommate but losing a pet when teammate Kevin Ogletree moves in with him. Delmas said his six-foot pet alligator will be removed from his home at Ogletree's request.

Delmas received the alligator, which he named Mojo, five years ago in his rookie season when teammate Ernie Sims presented him with an alligator egg. Delmas kept the egg and "Mojo" hatched from it, but now the fifth-year safety says it's time for his five-year-old pet to move out.

A picture of Mojo can be seen here.

According to ESPN, Delmas has housed the alligator in a 36-square-foot tank in his basement, but that the time has come to get rid of the gator as it's no longer reasonable to have it in his basement. That, matched with the fact that the Lions newly acquired receiver in Ogletree doesn't want to live with an alligator, has led to the decision.

Ogletree told Delmas that he didn't want to share a home with the dangerous pet.

"I told him I couldn't stay there with the gator there, so he had to make some adjustments for the New York City kid," Ogletree said, according to MLive.com.

Not only that, but Mojo had become a pain to feed as Delmas had to give it two giant rats three times a week.

"That gator ate my refrigerator dry," Delmas said, according to MLive.com.

According to ESPN, Delmas had Mojo picked up by Allen Park Critter Shop which houses the alligator now under caretaker and owner Rick Simms.

Delmas told ESPN that he believes the gator could end up at the Detroit Zoo someday.

With the pet situation taken care of, Delmas and Ogletree can focus on football. On the year, Delmas has two interceptions and 19 tackles while Ogletree has 13 receptions for 145 yards with one touchdown split between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Lions, while he's still looking for his first touchdown as a member of Detroit after three games with the team.

The Lions (4-3) host the Dallas Cowboys (4-3) at Ford Field in Sunday's Week 8 matchup.
