British boxer Amir Khan is confident that he will win against reigning World Boxing Council middleweight champion Amir Khan in their upcoming showdown on May 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Khan, who holds a 31-3 record with 19 knockout victories in his career, is considered as a heavy underdog, but the 29-year-old former world champion declared that he is ready to score an upset against Canelo.

"I'm going to go in there and I'm going to beat him," Khan told Sky Sports via BoxingScene. "A lot of people say that I'm jumping the gun too far, but styles win fights, and having the type of style that I have - the movement, the speed and everything - is something that will give Canelo Alvarez a lot of problems."

Khan, a former super lightweight world champion, has won in his last five fights, including a unanimous decision victpry against Chris Algieri in May last year. The Bolton, England native will be in an unfamiliar territory in his next fight, as he will be fighting above 147 pounds for the first time in his career.

Most analysts believe Alvarez will be too much for Khan due to the weight disparity because Canelo has been very comfortable fighting at 155. Canelo is also known for bulking up to the light heavyweight limit, which will make him significantly bigger than Khan in their Cinco de Mayo showdown.

However, Khan reiterated that he is not concerned about fighting at 155, expressing confidence that he will be at his best on fight night. He also revealed that he actually had to work hard to reach the welterweight limit of 147 pounds in his previous fights.

"Time will tell, but even though I'm going up to 155 that's a good weight for me because I'm not killing myself to make the weight," Khan said. "I'm really a natural 165 fighter, so 155 should be no problem. But I'm not going to eat up to the weight, I'm going to train up to the weight."
