Derrick Rose: Russell Westbrook Should 'Take His Time' Following Knee Surgery [VIDEO]

Chicago Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose is advising Oklahoma City Thunder counterpart Russell Westbrook to "take his time," as he battles back from offseason knee surgery, according to ESPN.

Rose speaks from experience, having just returned to action this preseason after missing nearly 18 months following his own ACL surgery. He feels Westbrook would be wise to follow his same game plan.

"Take his time," Rose told ESPN after scoring 26 points and dishing 6 assists in leading the unbeaten Bulls pass the Thunder and to their seventh straight preseason win on Wednesday night. "He's the only one that knows his body. There's no need to force anything. And attack every day of rehab like it's your last day. Get everything you can get out of it every day."

Rose remains firm in his belief that he took the right course in remaining on the sidelines despite coming to face a backlash that grew so severe by the end of last season some were even questioning his will to compete.

Now all seems forgiven as Rose has quickly flashed signs of his old brilliance, as well as a dead-eye stroke that has him among the league's top 3-point shooters in the preseason.

"He has that type of will," he told ESPN of Westbrook. "His frame, his body. I think the rehab is just going to help him become a better player."
