The WWE announced that the legendary Undertaker's opponent at WrestleMania will be Shane McMahon and something seems a little off about the matchup.
McMahon made his return to WWE television on RAW and said he wanted to take over the WWE's flagship show. His father, Vince McMahon, said if he can beat The Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania, he'll get full creative control.
Shane McMahon's Return May Keep Goldberg Out Of WrestleMania
Shane-O-Mac's comeback had people buzzing, but after a few days of letting it marinate, something is amiss about The Undertaker doing Vince's bidding and adding Shane to his legendary list of WrestleMania opponents -- especially since he likely has only a few bouts left.
Shawn Michaels, Triple H, CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, Shane McMahon. One of these things is not like the others.
Potential Outcomes To Roman Reigns vs. Triple H
Vince's son has proven on several occasions that he can bring it, but with The Undertaker set to return to RAW this Monday, there could be several swerves over the next five weeks leading up to WrestleMania on April 3.
1) The Undertaker vs. John Cena
Monday's episode could have been a stall tactic implemented by the WWE as a way to hype The Undertaker's match as a placeholder until they receive word Cena is ready to come back. The "Cenation" leader has hinted he is "defying science" to work his way back in time for the "Show of Shows," and his track record of healing quickly from injuries can't be ignored.
If 'Taker does Vince's bidding, Shane may swap himself out for Cena, who was his rumored opponent all along.
2) The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon's Hand-picked Opponent
Sports entertainment is full of loopholes, and the WWE could pull one with this storyline. At the risk of reading too much into things, sometimes it's important to hear what is said.
Shane agreed to "a match" at WrestleMania, but never said he'd wrestle in the match, despite what Vince believed he agreed too. Shane could easily use this logic to swap himself out of the bout and have someone else battle 'Taker inside "Satan's Playground."
3) The Undertaker vs. Vince McMahon's Hand-picked Opponent
If "The Deadman" opts to work for Vince, that would effectively make him a heel due to the logic that the chairman has been trying to sabotage Roman Reigns. It would be a strange character change for 'Taker at this stage of his career, so he could easily come out on Monday and say he won't be Vince's machine.
He could then swap sides and say he's working for Shane, leading Vince to find someone else to take on The Undertaker.
4) The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon
It's possible that what happened on Monday sticks and the 'Taker battles Shane-O-Mac. It's a very odd matchup, but the WWE has five weeks to figure out how to have it make sense. Shane could always win control of RAW only to turn heel in typical McMahon fashion.
