CM Punk clawed his way through the Indies to get to the WWE, but his very first fight in the MMA realm will be in the sport's top promotion, UFC.

Clearly, "The Best in the World" is a big name thanks to his wrestling background and many people (haters, lovers etc.) are anxiously awaiting his first fight. Punk's debut has been pushed back several times, but questions over whether his first bout should be in the UFC have emerged.

CM Punk Shouldn't Have Left WWE

Punk signed with the organization in December 2014, but has yet to step foot in the Octagon. Shortly after it was determined that the former WWE Champion would battle Mickey Gall in his debut, it was delayed due to his need for back surgery.

UFC analyst Joe Rogan made a valid point that Punk should probably take a fight on the lower levels before fighting for the big MMA promotion. Punk is never one to entertain doubters, but it's a valid point.

CM Punk Needs To Fight, Not Lash Out At Media

"I think it's ridiculous for him to fight in the UFC," Rogan said during his podcast 'The Joe Rogan Experience,' according to CBS Sports. "I think he should fight in a small organization. Take a fight in a small organization, build yourself up. I have always said that's what should have happened with Brock Lesnar."

Lesnar, of course, went on to have a successful career that included winning the UFC heavyweight championship. There's no telling how Punk will do inside the cage until he actually, finally has his first fight.

Perhaps that first fight should have taken place on a smaller stage.
