Kansas phenom Andrew Wiggins spent much of Big 12 Media Day trying to deflect LeBron James comparisons, according to ESPN.

The unanimous No. 1 recruit in the high school class of 2013, Wiggins also begins what's thought to be his one and only season as a Jayhawk fully accepting of his status as the projected top pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

"I want to be the best I can be," said Wiggins. "It's like fuel to the fire." But as for embracing all the comparisons to the The King comparisons, that's another matter.

"Well, he hasn't asked for any of it," coach Bill Self said of the LBJ comparisons.. "If you talk to him, he's humble and a low-key guy that deflects attention as much as anybody I've been around. But when you hear those things, it's not fair. ... He's just Andrew."

NBA scouts will tell you that's quite enough, ranking him the top talent in college hoops since Kevin Durant.

"I've got a long way to go before I can be compared to LeBron and Durant," Wiggins told ESPN. "Those are the best players in the world right now and I'm still in college. So I think it's really unfair to compare me to someone of that caliber. Hopefully one day I can be compared to them, but I think I still have a long way to go before I can be."
