Wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler recently turned heel on SmackDown, but he also became a real-life villain on social media.

The WWE announcer took to Twitter last week to encourage voters in New Hampshire to put their support behind Donald Trump. Lawler was met with a lot of backlash after the tweet endorsed the very controversial Presidential candidate.

After authoring the tweet, Lawler got death threats, according to WMC Action News. Some users went as far as to wish he died when he had his heart attack on an episode of RAW in 2012. Lawler told the affiliate that sending out the tweet wasn't the best idea, and he'll now be staying out of politics.

That's probably a good idea.

Trump has crossed over to the wrestling world in the past, most notably during the "Battle of the Billionaires" at WrestleMania 23 in 2007. At that event, his representative, Bobby Lashley, battled Vince McMahon's charge, Umaga, with both of the rich dudes putting their hair on the line.

Of course, Trump's precious locks made it out of the ordeal unscathed, while McMahon's head was shaved clean. The Republican was also inducted into the WWE's Hall of Fame in 2013, an honor that was bestowed upon Lawler in 2007.

There are always politics in wrestling, but sometimes when WWE personalities tweet about the actual political arena, terrible things happen.
