First place is on the line, as Nacional host Sporting Lisbon on Saturday.

No, this isn't a battle between the top two clubs in Portugal's first division. With 21 points, Nacional are closer to relegation than the top of the table. Saturday's clash does carry significant importance for Sporting Lisbon, though.

Benfica fell 2-1 to Porto on Friday, opening the door for the visitors to reclaim sole possession of first place.

What They're Saying

Nacional manager Manuel Machado (via Mais Futebol): "I expect a good Sporting team. They are leading the championship and that says it all. They're a great team. They have a rich squad, which is very well led."

Sporting Lisbon manager Jorge Jesus (via Record): "It's the old story of the glass half full or half empty. We all started with zero points, we lost points. Our rivals have lost more points than us. We can walk out [of Nacional] atop the table, and so we continue. We had two home games that we could not win [Tondela and Rio Ave], but Sporting did not lose quality. In the last game we played very well, but just could not win. We must go game by game."
