The NFL season is finally over. Now, it's time for 2016 hopefuls to look at their rosters and identify the dead weight.

In Oakland, that starts with Sebastian Janikowski.

Best Moments Of Charles Woodson's Career

Below are three players the Raiders should sever ties with to succeed next season.

Sebastian Janikowski

How much is a kicker really worth? Apparently in Oakland, it's $8.3 million over the next two years.

Janikowski converted a pedestrian 21-of-26 attempts in 2015 -- not exactly the accuracy you expect from a $3.2 million base salary. That number increases to $3.6 million in 2016, but the Raiders can recoup $3.2 million against the cap simply by releasing him.

There are cheaper options to be had than a 37-year-old kicker.

Curtis Lofton

There's more money to be saved in Oakland by releasing Curtis Lofton.

Lofton is due $5.5 million in 2016. For much of 2015, he was off the field on passing downs, per Mercury News. Ben Heeney -- who was drafted in the fifth round -- is already being pegged as his younger, cheaper replacement.

Every cent owed to Lofton can be recouped with his release.

Roy Helu Jr.

What chance does Roy Helu Jr. have in Oakland?

The 27-year-old carried the ball just 17 times in 2015, for 39 total yards. With his cap hit rising to $2 million in 2016, there's no need to pay that kind of money for that lack of production.

Especially when none of it is in dead money.
