Monday was a sad day for wrestling fans everywhere as Daniel Bryan announced he was ending his 16-year career due to issues stemming from his concussion.

The WWE honored "The Beard" all night on RAW this week and he gave an emotional farewell address to fans to close out the flagship show.

Nikki Bella Hints At Engagement To John Cena

Bryan is also set to be featured on ESPN's "SportsCenter" on Tuesday where he'll talk to former WWE personality-turned-ESPN anchor Jonathan Coachman at 9 p.m. ET.

The best honor for Bryan, however, could be saved for WWE Fastlane on Feb. 21. Bryan's wife, Brie Bella, will go up against Charlotte for the Divas Championship with a chance to win the belt for just the second time in her career.

Other Career Options For Daniel Bryan

Much like her husband, Bella has often times had a difficult journey due to her creative direction in the company. Bryan was the most popular Superstar on the roster, but wasn't pushed time and time again, until finally the WWE gave him his crowning moment at WrestleMania XXX in 2014.

After capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Bryan went down a path of myriad injuries in what eventually led to his retirement.

Though Bella may not be as over as her husband, the WWE has a chance to ride the positive momentum created by Bryan's retirement in a way to benefit his wife and honor him at the same time.

Bella has been cast in the shadow of her sister Nikki, who set a record by having the longest Divas Championship reign of all time, and even hinted that she was unhappy with her role in the WWE when addressing her finishing move.

"Oh yes, so dangerous," Bella quipped to TMZ about the maneuver. "I know, you've never seen me win with it."

The WWE has a chance to have her win with it by booking her to defeat Charlotte and win the Divas Championship in one last homage to the tremendous career of her husband.
