The NFL ended its 2015 season with an all-time legend, Peyton Manning, potentially riding off into the sunset with his second Super Bowl ring, while also witnessing a young player, Cam Newton, blossom into a true superstar.
But the league could still be in far worse shape next year, and going forward, because three possible Hall of Famers could be calling it quits this offseason.

Manning’s physical ability has deteriorated so much that he was benched at one point this season, and threw almost double the amount of interceptions as touchdowns in 2015. In the Super Bowl, and throughout the playoffs, Manning was merely a game manager while the Broncos’ top-ranked defense shut opponents down. In Super Bowl 50 he managed just 141 yards, with zero touchdown passes and one pick. He refused to say he would retire in his postgame interview, but after winning the AFC Championship he admitted to Patriots coach Bill Belichick that this might be his “last rodeo.”
During the game, another legend – check the numbers – hinted strongly he’s calling it quits. Marshawn Lynch, the Seahawks’ bruising running back nicknamed “Beast Mode,” sent out this tweet that seems pretty clear.
