Reigning UFC light heavyweight Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones will finally get it on, and the latest word is that the rematch will take place this April.

UFC president Dana White made the confirmation via Fox Sports, though the actual date and venue have yet to be made official.

Jones is looking to regain the title he never actually lost from Cormier. The two faced off in January of last year with ‘Bones’ hacking out a unanimous decision victory.

Three months later, the UFC stripped Jones of the title for a hit-and-run incident that led to his arrest. Cormier would win the title in May at UFC 187 via submission against Anthony Johnson.

Jones has bulked up since then and looks determined to regain the title from his rival. Cormier is looking more than to defend his title. DC is looking to redeem himself from that previous loss, which makes this upcoming rematch truly something to watch.

While Jones looks bigger, the fact that is has been almost a year since he fought, which poses a serious question on his physical conditioning.

On the other side, Cormier last faced Alexander Gustaffson in October at UFC 192, where he came out with a split decision. DC’s performance wasn’t exactly impressive and the champ cannot afford to put up that kind of a showing against Jones.

Cormier admits that Jones is a good fighter and the layoff will hardly play a factor. But he adds that he has a new dimension on his end (via It’s Time podcast), something he says will be the difference maker when they face off for a second time.
