Don't be so quick to romanticize the end of Peyton Manning's career. There's still a future for him in Los Angeles.

The Rams have had internal discussions about acquiring Peyton Manning should he want to play another season, according to an NFL source, per ESPN Senior Writer Adam Schefter. L.A.'s newest franchise is monitoring the situation closely.

Super Bowl 50 Win Will Bring Peyton Manning Closer To Joe Montana

Admittedly, so is half the NFL -- there's not a team in the league that would prefer Brian Hoyer or Ryan Fitzpatrick over Manning -- but Los Angeles is a fit.

If anything else, the weather will suit Manning's soon-to-be 40-year-old body.

The Rams aren't exactly a winning football team -- they haven't finished above .500 since 2003 -- but there's only so much you can do with Nick Foles and Case Keenum at QB. Even with those handicaps, the Rams managed to give the Cardinals and Seahawks fits last season.

Just imagine what could be attained with some semblance of competence under center.

There are a few kinks to work out for any of this come fruition, though.

For one, Manning has to actually want to play, let alone play in Los Angeles. Secondly, he's still under contract with the Broncos through 2016.

Denver will have to either cut him -- and save $19 million in cap space -- or negotiate a trade.

Neither situation seems likely, but Manning has at least one option at his disposal. Coupled with a loss in Super Bowl 50, there's no telling what kind of motivation will be triggered.
