Panthers star cornerback Josh Norman is in the Super Bowl, but don’t expect him to get content and lose his edge. Norman had a brief chat with legend Deion Sanders during Media Day, and showed that he’s still salty about his beef with Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Norman took Sanders to task in the aftermath of the ugly spat for backing Beckham, and condoning his behavior. Beckham was suspended for the Giants’ next game because of a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit he laid on Norman. Beckham had charged from more than 10 yards away to deliver the blow. The hit was the culmination of an ongoing battle between the two that featured much trash-talking, and both players tossing each other to the turf.

Josh Norman Doesn't Fear Any Team's Wide Receivers

“I felt like you had his back on some stuff,” Norman said. “Like he was your son and you’d give him props. He’s trying to take me out and that’s what you’re going to pat him on the back for and say good job?”

Sanders went on to explain what he meant, and told Norman he had tried to get Beckham to reach out to him and apologize for how he’d escalated the situation. By the end of the conversation Norman and Sanders seemed to be on better terms, with Norman calling Sanders “the best to ever do it.” It’s unlikely, however, that Norman and Beckham will reach the same accord.

After the game Beckham apologized to the Giants, the fans, and the NFL for how he’d acted, but conspicuously left Norman out. “Shoot man, that’s crazy. You all saw it,” Norman said to reporters. “It definitely could have been a different story. I told Coach [Ron Rivera] to take me out of the game, man, because I couldn’t be in there with that.”
