The NHL All-Star break is almost over and teams are expected to ramp it up with the second half of the season about to get underway.

At the halfway point, the Capitals are standing tall at the top of the Eastern Conference with an NHL-best 74 points and have only lost eight times in regulation. On the other end, the Blackhawks lead the pack with 70 points in the Western Conference.

Despite their conference-leading accomplishments midway through the season, the teams behind them could make a serious push in the second half.

The Stars, Blues, Panthers and the Kings represent clubs that are certainly in striking distance to topple the Blackhawks for the top record in the west. Some of these teams could make a push for the top spot with the playoffs looming.

With the time off to reflect and make the necessary tweaks, there are sure to be some runs and a few surprises as the second half of the 2015-16 NHL season gets underway
