Blackhawks right wing Patrick Kane was welcomed with a chorus of boos when he was introduced at the Bridgestone Arena for the NHL All-Star skills competition in Nashville, which was to be expected.

But the fact is Kane has been leading the way in scoring in the NHL at the halfway point of the season and is having a dominant year on the ice after having some controversy off of it.

Kane leads the league in goals (30), assists (43) and points (73), ahead of Jamie Benn of the Stars. Benn won the scoring title back in the 2014-15 season. Kane played this season despite being accused of sexual assault by a woman in the offseason.

"I've kind of trended upward pretty much every one of my seasons," Kane said via the Telegram. "I was at a point where I was happy last year and it would have been fun to see what would have happened those last 20 games. I think some people want to talk like this has kind of come out of nowhere this season, which I tend to disagree with."
