The final pay-per-view and WWE Network special stop on the road to WrestleMania could be an interesting one for Triple H.
The WWE announced a No. 1 contender's Triple Threat Match between Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar for Fastlane on Feb. 24. The winner will go on to face the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 32.
Candidates For AJ Styles' First Major WWE Feud
What remains a mystery, however, is what Triple H's role will be at the event. In order for WrestleMania season to be a success, the COO should be a fighting champion.
Here are possible opponents for Triple H at Fastlane.
Twitter Reacts To Sheamus' Mysterious Injury
1) Bray Wyatt
If "The Eater of Worlds" is set to face Lesnar at WrestleMania, which seems to be where things are headed, he could use some more exposure in the upper tier of the card. Wyatt and his family have made quite the impact lately, but the WWE should make the foursome a real threat by having the "New Face of Fear" battle for the richest prize in the game.
2) AJ Styles
Yes, yes, we know, he just made his long-awaited WWE debut last Sunday, but how awesome would a match between "The Phenomenal One" and Triple H be? The face of TNA against the man running the show in the WWE ... sign us up. The crowd would be at the edge of their seats with every near-fall Styles would garner on the champion.
3) Kane
Before you groan, it's time to face the facts that Kane isn't going anywhere and the WWE loves to dust off the "Devils Favorite Demon" whenever there is a need for a quick program between major shows. Just look at the feud he engaged in with Seth Rollins prior to "The Architect's" injury. This isn't our consensus pick for No. 1 contender, but it is a strong possibility.
4) Chris Jericho
"Y2J" is a cagey veteran and he has a storied history with Triple H. The two Superstars could riff off their shared animosity and put on a solid match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. We realize it isn't 2002, but Triple H is in tremendous shape and Jericho proved Monday against Styles that he can still hang with the best of them.
5) Dolph Ziggler
The best part of this match would be the behind the scenes drama that undercuts it, with "The Showoff" clearly being fed up with his spot in the WWE hierarchy and Triple H being the man in charge, yet not pushing him. Ziggler can put on a great match with the best of them, and seeing him battle the WWE's authority figure in the ring would truly be a sight.
