Tonight at 8:30 p.m. on TBS, the Los Angeles Dodgers will attempt to stave off elimination once again in Busch Stadium, St. Louis, where they will take on the Cardinals. Live steam the National League Championship Series Game 6 here; Dodgers fans can access the radio broadcast on 570 Fox Sports LA, while Cardinals fans may do the same on 1120 KMOX.
The Dodgers certainly have their backs pressed up against the wall, but they can enter Game 6 confident that they have the best pitcher in baseball on the mound. Clayton Kershaw will toe the rubber tonight, after becoming the second hurler in Dodgers history to go six or more innings while giving up no earned runs and four or fewer hits while getting a loss.
If he matches that effort tonight, the Dodgers probably won't have to worry about that again. However, their offense is still banged up. Both Hanley Ramirez (fractured rib) and Andre Ethier (ankle) are badly nicked up, but expected to be in the lineup.
"Andre, I expect to play. He just seems to get a little stronger," manager Don Mattingly said. When asked about Ramirez, Mattingly replied, "We don't feel like he's getting any worse. It's just a matter of how the game goes for him."
With these injuries, Cardinals rookie starter Michael Wacha, whose been tremendous in his first season, might be even tougher. "Just this whole postseason ride has been amazing," Wacha said. "Hopefully we can just keep it going."
The rookie also said he's not intimidated by staring across at the best pitcher in baseball for the second time in the series. "Kershaw's a tough pitcher, obviously, and you saw that in his last start," Wacha said. "But I try not to worry too much about who I'm facing. Just try to approach it like any other start and just worry about myself, really."
