A 45-year-old Atlanta woman claims Detroit Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks pulled her hair and put his fist against the side of her face during a meeting the two had in Birmingham in August after she confronted him about finding lipstick on a glass in his apartment.
According to ProBasketballTalk.com, the woman also told police during the argument she threw the glass down a flight of stairs in anger. "She stated Cheeks was trying to prevent her from leaving and was taking her belongings out of the suitcase and throwing them around the bedroom ... screaming at her to clean up the broken glass and calling her a (expletive)," the website reported the woman noted in their report.
According to ProBasketBallTalk, the woman also told police Cheeks blocked her from leaving and only allowed her to do so after she agreed to clean up the broken glass. Instead, she fled and called 911. Police found her wandering at the corner of Woodward and Bowers after midnight on Aug. 31.
Cheeks, 56, was never charged and the woman has since refused to cooperate with investigators. "The situation's closed for us because nothing ever came; it was thrown out," said Pistons spokesman Kevin Grigg. "The issue's closed for us."
