Those comparisons Ben Simmons keeps hearing about, throw them out the window. The LSU freshman would prefer to make his own name.

In fairness to his predecessors, of course.

Ben Simmons Right To Be Compared To LeBron James

“I don’t really think anybody [is a fair comparison to me],” Simmons said, per ESPN. “It’s really hard to compare me to one of the greatest point-forwards in the game, Magic Johnson. He’s done a lot for the game. He’s one of the best players to ever play. For him, it’s not fair because I’m still in college, I’m still playing.

“I try and learn things from them -- whether it’s LeBron, or Paul George, or Kevin Durant and Magic, just watch film on them, but I don’t think it’s fair to them to compare them to me because I feel like I have my own game.”

Kobe Bryant Should Play Worse, Give Lakers Best Shot At Ben Simmons

Simmons is averaging 19.8 points, 12.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game this season, leading Magic to get the ball rolling on said comparisons.

Credit the kid for being humble, but that won’t ratchet the pressure down one bit. He’s already the consensus No. 1 overall pick for the 2016 NBA Draft and the kid hasn’t even left college yet.

Simmons returns to the court for a highly anticipated battle with No. 1 Oklahoma on Saturday.
