Williams is on a quest for her first career calendar-year Grand Slam, the only thing she has left to accomplish. Williams entered the 2016 Aussie Open as a question mark, thanks to injuries she concluded 2015 with that lingered into the Hopman Cup, from which she retired. Williams, 34, has responded to doubts forcefully, ripping through her first four opponents – including No. 5 Maria Sharapova – in straight sets.
Djokovic Was Offered Money To Throw A Match Early In his Career
On the men’s side, Djokovic is coming off one of the most dominant years in the history of men’s tennis, reaching the finals of all four Grand Slam tournaments and winning three. Federer plans on trying to stop Djokovic by being aggressive, and meeting the “Djoker” at the net.
“Looking at the stats it (seems like) an easy thing (to do),” Federer said (via Forbes). “I do feel really good at net since a few years now. It’s where it all sort of started for me when I came on Tour. I know how it works up there. I still think there’s room of improvement. Every player manages to defend or pass it differently.”
