**END UPDATE**
Blake Griffin was supposed to be back this week, but now his return is going to be pushed back “weeks,” per ESPN. The delay is unrelated to his torn quadriceps too. Griffin reportedly broke his right hand in an “undisclosed team-related incident,” that has everyone’s antenna up.

Last week the Clippers unloaded forward Josh Smith back to the Rockets for what essentially is worth a bag of basketballs. The Clippers received cash and a Serbian center named Serhiy Lischuk, a strange return for a player they signed for nearly $1.5 million this offseason and who is a former All-Star.
Smith made waves earlier this year by getting into a very animated discussion with an assistant coach that was laced with profanity which reporters could hear through the locker room’s cement walls, according to The Big Lead. Now, there is buzz that the Smith trade – and the exceptionally meager return – could be related to Griffin’s broken hand.
Dan Woike, of The Orange County Register, however, is reporting that Griffin was hurt in an off-court incident with a staff member.

The Clippers’ season, despite their 28-16 record and fourth-place standing, is rapidly devolving into a soap opera. Smith and Lance Stephenson have proven to be terrible offseason additions, DeAndre Jordan’s free-throw shooting routinely becomes a story when teams foul him until Doc Rivers is forced to bench him, and now Griffin is mysteriously breaking bones.

And on top of all that, Austin Rivers still plays 22 minutes a night.
