Floyd Mayweather Jr. claims to have officially retired from boxing and Manny Pacquiao alleges he will follow soon.
Mayweather has so far been standing firm on his word and so does Pacquiao who keeps on reiterating that his April 9 joust with Timothy Bradley Jr. is his last one before embarking on politics.

But there are some people who don’t buy it and one is Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach.
Roach along with promoter Bob Arum and Michael Koncz continue to defy the notion that this will be Pacquiao’s last fight. But no matter what they think or say, the Filipino boxer/lawmaker may be forced into it especially if he wins a senatorial seat.

The legendary trainer believes that one thing will lure both pound-for-pound fighters back in the ring -- money.
Mayweather continues to spend his money like crazy while Pacquiao will have to shell out as well as he campaigns for that slot in the senate. Though both have earned a huge sum from their mega bout last May, it remains that their respective bank accounts could at one point run low.
And that is the point which Roach stresses, saying that one (and if) that happens, the two will be looking to replenish their resources. The best way to do that is to meet in the ring again though the numbers may not be as astronomical as their first encounter.
“But the way that they both spend money, maybe they will fight again… Manny’s running for senator, and that’s gonna cost him a lot of money to become senator. That’s how votes go in his country (Philippines). I mean, you pay for votes,” says Roach via Boxingscene.com.
Pacquiao has not completely closed the doors on Mayweather and apparently he is still hoping for such to happen. Would Manny come out of retirement as well just in case the inevitable happens?
“I don’t know,” says Pacquiao via the NY Daily. “What is in my mind right now is to retire after this fight.”
Should one of them come out of retirement, it won’t be surprising if the two consider a rematch. But would fans want to see it happen after that disappointing May 1 fight?
If ever, there will be some who would want to see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao II. But as state earlier, don’t expect it to rack in record-setting revenue.
