No two people were meant to come together at an opportune time like Ray Rice and Trevone Boykin.

Rice -- who's been working toward an NFL comeback after viciously knocking out his then-fiancee in an elevator -- is set to coach the National Team at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Saturday. Boykin will be one of the many players on his roster he can mentor.

Ray Rice Still Pursuing NFL Job

"I think the NFL has such a huge platform, and I've seen the platform I had when I was playing, when I would go out and help people," Rice said, per ESPN. "I go out now, and I don't have an NFL platform, but I'm going out there and helping people out. So if I never played a down again, why not see if I could use their platform to go out there and help make a difference?

"Young rookies, anybody in college ... I want to be able to spread all of my experiences to help other people, to make them understand that domestic violence is not OK, not even one time."

The Steelers Could've Used Ray Rice In Playoff Job

Domestic violence and just violence in general is "not OK." Especially against cops, which Boykin found out the hard way nights before the Alamo Bowl.

Admittedly, Rice will only serve as a co-running back coach on Saturday. It's not as if he'll be heavily involved with Boykin on the field.

But off the field -- where Boykin needs him most -- Rice should be in his ear more than an offensive coordinator. If there's anyone who can walk Boykin through the darkest time of his career, it's someone still in search of his own light.
