J.J. Watt is favored to walk away with his second consecutive Defensive Player of the Year award, but he still won't have what Luke Kuechly has ... a cool nickname.

Kuechly -- who returned an interception 14 yards for a TD in Sunday's 31-24 victory over the Seahawks -- was given high praise by his QB, Cam Newton on Tuesday. Newton went as far as comparing Kuechly to an American hero.

Cam Newton Should Start Dressing Other NFL QBs

"[His nickname is] 'Captain America,'" Newton said, per ESPN. "He has the smile, the charisma, the lawyer look, but he has like a demolition mentality.

"He's like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but in my eyes, he'll always be 'Captain America' because he makes every play."

Cam Newton's Personality Doesn't Belong In Carolina

Newton's teammates were in agreement.

"'Captain America' is the perfect nickname for Kuechly," Jerricho Cotchery said. "He's going to show up for the people."

One could easily make the "Superman" comparison, but Newton already placed a moratorium on that comparison. Either way, it beats whatever they're calling Watt in Houston.
