When it comes to new 49ers coach Chip Kelly, LeSean McCoy’s words need to be taken with a grain of salt. That said, his comments comparing Kelly to his new coach, Rex Ryan, are ones Kelly would be wise to pay attention to.

"Rex is more like, if [it's] a big game against whoever team, [he says] 'You know how important this game is. I shouldn't have tell you to study. I shouldn't have to tell you to get into your playbook. I shouldn't have to tell you to do your own type of things,” McCoy said.

LeSean McCoy's Lying when He Says He Doesn't Dislike Chip Kelly

"I think Chip is kind of the opposite. I think he's the guy that dictates how everything is supposed to go and push everything out like that."

McCoy also touched on how Kelly refused to bend with players who were not completely sold on his leadership style, or his system. That was made clear by his unpopular decisions to trade McCoy, release WR DeSean Jackson, allow WR Jeremy Maclin to walk, and refuse to negotiate with G Evan Mathis. Despite back-to-back 10-win seasons, the Eagles cut bait this year after the first bump in the road.

Chip Kelly Is Colin Kaepernick's Savior

“I think, with him coming in there, no matter how good of a player or lower of a player you are, if you just automatically believe him -- no matter if it sounds crazy and you're like, 'What is he talking about?' -- if you just automatically believe and buy in, I think you'll be fine," Mccoy said.

San Francisco does not have star players the caliber of McCoy on the roster at this point in time, so there will be fewer egos to massage, but McCoy is right to say that he could adjust his approach. It worked for Tom Coughlin as Giants coach; once he loosened his persona just a little bit he became beloved by his players. He went on to win two Super Bowls, and last 11 years.

Kelly and McCoy may not like each other, but his former running back has finally made a worthwhile point about his old coach.
