Eli Manning did everything he could to avoid playing for the Chargers in 2004. If Jared Goff cares about his future, he'd do the same to avoid playing for the Browns.
Look at any mock draft out there, the California QB is projected to be selected by Cleveland No. 2 overall. Mel Kiper Jr., SB Nation and Sports Illustrated are all on the same wavelength, per California Golden Blogs.
Colleen Crowley Would Prefer If Johnny Manziel Played In These NFL Cities
"Of the many glaring needs on the Browns, quarterback is the most obvious and important," SB Nation wrote. "Goff is ready for the NFL from a mental standpoint and has solid athleticism."
"The thought of taking another QB this high probably makes Browns fans nauseous, but if Manziel is out, the revamped front office has to accept it," Sports Illustrated argued. "Goff is the draft's best QB prospect and could compete early."
Johnny Manziel Didn't Deserve More Chances Than Tim Tebow
Goff could compete, but the Browns certainly won't. Simply put: Cleveland is where QBs go to die.

That's not a list you want to add your name to.
It could be argued that Hue Jackson is a changing of the guard in Cleveland -- that his hire will forever transform the sorriest franchise in AFC history -- but that's not a risk Goff should be willing to take. Not if he cares about his career.
Manning -- much like John Elway before him -- wasn't interested in a toxic environment. To no surprise -- again, much like Elway before him -- he was rewarded with Super Bowl rings.
Goff should strive for the same.
