As he's been prone to do during the course of his return from injury, John Cena took to his official Twitter account to address rumors that were going around about his scheduled return for the WWE's Oct. 27 Hell in a Cell pay-per-view being a swerve. The Cenation leader dispelled any rumors that he wouldn't be able to return at the October event as his original timetable for a return following surgery for a torn triceps and distended elbow had Cena's earliest possible return date being January's Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

Cena is slated to fight Alberto Del Rio at the event for the World Heavyweight Championship, and is making his return to action over three months sooner than he was originally expected to wrestle, leading many to doubt the validity of WWE's promise.

Cena tweeted the following to those who doubted his availability and believed that WWE swerved its fans with the early return news:

Cena hasn't appeared in the ring since the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view in August due to his injury, but he has stayed in the headlines by posting updates on his injury from his Twitter account that chronicled his vigorous rehab program, though the real expectation was always that Cena wouldn't return to in-ring action until January at the earliest.

Then, the rumors swirled that Cena may come back to WWE T.V. in October to be the company's mouthpiece for its Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiative, but Cena said he wouldn't be returning until he was actively ready to compete. Then, word came out that the WWE was planning on bringing Cena on its European Tour in November to appear in a non-wrestling capacity while the company was also advertising for Cena to make a "special appearance" at a December show emanating from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

While it was rumored that Cena would appear at these events in a non-wrestling capacity, it now appears as though Cena might be making them in a wrestling role as he is taking on Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Hell in a Cell event a month before the tours start.

Cena dropped the WWE Title to Daniel Bryan Aug. 18 at SummerSlam, and Bryan then lost it to Randy Orton that very same night due to a swerve with Triple H aligning himself with Orton. That swerve has led to Bryan and Orton taking over as the main focus on WWE's programming in the absence of Cena, but with WWE's announcement of Cena's return coming unexpectedly, it's led to some fans speculating that Cena may not be returning after all--which Cena has tweeted isn't the case.

Cena's absence from Monday Night RAW since his announcement on the Aug. 19 edition of the program that he needed the surgery and would be taking time off has led to the lowest ratings that the show has had in quite some time, WrestleZone.com reported last week. With Cena having a clean bill of health and the WWE struggling with its ratings, it makes sense that Cena will be returning early, while a lot of people believe that WWE was pulling the wool over its fans eyes.

It appears as though Cena will once again take a prominent role in WWE storylines when he steps through the ropes for the first time in three months Oct. 27 against Del Rio at Hell in a Cell.
