Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley Jr. will be getting it on this coming April 9 in Las Vegas though not too many people are thrilled of seeing the third meeting between the two middleweight pugs.

The backlash on the choice of his final opponent continues to this day despite the persistent justifications made by Pacquiao and company that Bradley was the best choice in the financial aspect.

Terence Crawford and Amir Khan were the other possible opponents for the eight-time division champion and obviously the two were not big names that could reel in PPV buys.

Crawford hardly showed he was affected by it but Khan’s case was another heartbreaking development as it turned out to be strike two for the British southpaw as far as pursuing a big fight payday.

Though he has made a name for himself in the sport, it remains that Khan still lacks some kick in the popularity department. Khan was already besieged with criticism for having a questionable chin and the lack of power to stand up to the PacMan and a report from Boxing News Online adds that even HBO was not even interested in Khan as Pacquiao’s next opponent.

“The thing is he’s not a big pay-per-view draw,” say trainer Freddie Roach via Boxing News. “We had talks about him and I know him very well, he’s a good boxer. His speed would give anyone in the world trouble, he’s a very good fighter, but his name got thrown out very, very quickly by HBO. HBO didn’t want that fight.”

Somehow that bit doesn’t come as a surprise and has left Khan waiting for his next fight. Though manager Eddie Hearn seems to be pulling some strings to make him fight Kell Brook by June this year, nothing is certain.

That planned fight could however depend on what happens when Brook faces Kevin Bizier, the IBF mandatory challenger to his title in a separate report via Boxing News Online.

Ironically, Khan criticized Brook when the latter was in hot pursuit of a possible showdown. Khan advised Brook last year to build up his boxing resume first before he would consider fighting his countryman.

But it seems he needs to do some boosting himself with the reality that not too many people consider him among the ranks of Pacquiao or even Floyd Mayweather Jr.
