CM Punk is a step closer to finally getting into the Octagon, as long as MIckey Gall wins his next fight.

Gall is a relatively unknown talent and he's only 1-0 in his fighting career, yet he's shown enough promise for UFC president Dana White to put confidence in him. White revealed that if Gall wins his next fight, he will be the former WWE Superstar's first opponent in the Octagon.

UFC Desperate For Big Male Star To Rival Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm

"I'm bringing Mickey Gall in and he's gonna fight a kid named Michael Jackson, they're going to fight on the prelims on Feb. 6 on Fight Pass and if he wins that fight, Mickey Gall will fight CM Punk," White revealed to TSN (via Fox Sports). "And CM Punk will be there at the fight to watch."

Gall, 23, is a welterweight from New Jersey and he won his first fight in November with White in attendance. The end of the fight was chronicled on White's reality show "Lookin' For a Fight," and Gall called out the former WWE Champion after the battle.

Ronda Rousey's Days As Top UFC Draw Are Numbered

"I would love to fight that man, CM Punk," Gall said into the microphone after his win.

Following the statement generating a lot of buzz, Gall doubled-down on himself, confidently proclaiming he'd end the fight in the first round.

"I finish CM Punk," Gall said via Fox Sports. "I'm not sure if I knock him out or I submit him, but I think it ends and I think it ends in the first round."

It looks like White gave into Gall's demands. Though Gall is a relative unknown and hasn't proven himself, the UFC president kowtowed to him and will give him a shot.

Then again, Punk has no experience, so the move makes sense from that standpoint.

Gall's first fight was part of regional promotion Dead Serious MMA, and he'll be making his debut for the UFC. Jackson will also be taking his first fight in UFC after building himself up at Legacy Fighting Championships in Texas.

Though Gall will face Punk if he wins, White revealed on Twitter that Jackson won't be afforded the same opportunity if he emerges victorious in the fight, which is slated for UFC 196.

It's unknown when Punk will make his UFC debut, but it's possible that if Gall wins he'll take on the "Best in the World" at UFC 200 this summer in Las Vegas.
