For the past year and change Thunder superstar Kevin Durant has grown very prickly with the media, often accusing them of bias against the team and unfair coverage in general. He’s lashed out on several issues, including treatment of ex-coach Scott Brooks, and the media’s harsh coverage of Kobe Bryant’s struggles as he ages.

He got into a particularly nasty back-and-forth with Stephen A. Smith of ESPN as well right before the season started when Smith speculated that the Lakers were high on Durant’s wish list of destinations should he leave Oklahoma City. Durant released a statement that accused Smith of making the story up, which then led to a lengthy tirade against Durant from Smith on First Take.

Kevin Durant & Stephen Curry Could Become Teammates

It was a lot of ugliness involving one of the NBA;s most well-liked players.

Last night may have been the beginning of Durant bringing the media closer to him … in his own way. During OKC’s 19-point win over the Mavericks Durant snuck behind Fox reporter Leskey McCaslin and let out an Earth-shattering roar while she delivered her stand-up before delivering a deadpan stare toward the camera. It was a pretty weird move, but funny too. Hopefully Durant was trying to extend an olive branch to the media through humor, and was saying it’s safe to ask him questions again.
