The Patriots have a potentially huge problem on their hands just days before they face the Chiefs in the AFC Divisional round of the NFL playoffs. Star defensive end Chandler Jones was taken to the hospital Saturday night after allegedly overdosing on pills, according to reports.
Even worse, there are rumblings that Jones’ overdose happened the home of tight end Rob Gronkowski, who may arguably be more valuable to the Pats than Tom Brady. WEEI initially reported the part about Gronkowski’s house, but has since deleted their tweet and moved forward only talking about the overdose.

Jones could face discipline depending on what the substance was, but he’s unlikely to face a suspension unless he ingested performance-enhancing drugs, per Pro Football Talk. They reported that street drugs would land Jones in the NFL’s substance-abuse program, and open him up to more frequent, random testing.
Jones was one of New England’s best players this year, recording 44 tackles and 12 ½ sacks. Gronkowski was the team’s most prolific offensive player, scoring 11 touchdowns and piling up 1,176 yards receiving.
Why Tom Brady Will Win His Fifth Super Bowl
Jones’ overdose is even more notable because his brother, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, was recently suspended and stripped of his title for behavior outside the octagon. Jones tested positive for cocaine ahead of his January 2015 title defense vs. Daniel Cormier, which he went on to win.
