Tiger Woods has a lot of free time on his hands; as such, he is helping at least one of the game's young stars.
No, it's not Jordan Spieth.
Michelle Wie Rocked Rainbow Hair At Final Major Of 2015
Michelle Wie posted photos on Instagram of Tiger watching her hit some golf balls as she visited his Tiger Woods Foundation clinic on Monday, according to CBS Sports.
Wie was actually helping with the clinic, but Woods ended up helping the 26-year-old with a few pointers.
Tiger Woods Helping Jordan Spieth Would Be Admission His Career Is Over
Like Woods, Wie had an injury-plagued 2015. She battled a lingering hip ailment that forced her to alter her swing to relieve pressure. Woods may be sitting out a good chunk of 2016 because of a recurring back injury.
Wie's injury came at a most inopportune time for the one-time teen sensation. In 2014, Wie finally seemed to be living up to her considerable hype, as she won the first major of her career at the U.S. Women's Open and rose to No. 6 in the world rankings.
But after her rough 2015 season, Wie tumbled in the rankings and opens 2016 at No. 29 in the world.
Over the weekend, current men's No. 1 Spieth, who was on his way to winning the PGA's season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions by eight strokes, expressed a desire to talk to Woods, as well as Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson, about playing at a high level consistently over a period of time and the challenges of remaining No. 1.
Whether that meeting takes place remains to be seen, but Wie seems to have the potential for a closer connection to Woods. Wie was called the female Tiger Woods as a teen, both attended Stanford and Wie is not a Woods contender as Spieth is.
Wie, who recently signed a deal to endorse Starkist Tuna, has two weeks to prepare for the LPGA's first event, the Pure Silk-Bahamas Classic in two weeks.
