The battle for the starting point guard job of the Houston Rockets between Jeremy Lin and Patrick Beverly was the topic of conversation among media members in Taiwan, where the Rockets played the Indiana Pacers in a preseason game, and Lin's impressive homecoming game has put more pressure on coach Kevin McHale to give Linsanity back his old role.

Lin returned home to his native Taiwan last Sunday and led the Houston Rockets to an impressive win over another contender, the Indiana Pacers, 107-98.

Lin, born to Taiwanese parents who migrated to the United States, scored 17 points on an impressive 3 out of 4 from the three point line as he led the Rockets to the win before his adoring countrymen. All-Star guard James Harden led the Rockets in scoring with 21 points

''He puts so much pressure on himself,'' McHale said as quoted by Yahoo! Sports. ''There's an entire half of the world that seems to be pulling for him.''

Lin's starting role appeared to have been snatched by Beverly, who was the starting point guard for the Rockets in their game against the Pacers in the Philippines. Ultimate Rockets Blog quoted McHale as saying about the battle of the point guards: ""I just alternate starting guys. I just want to see guys come off the bench, see how it works. We have a lot of new faces. I talked to Jeremy and Patrick (Beverley, 25) about it. Both are playing very, very well."

The starting point guard role is critical for the Rockets, who have to feed superstar center Dwight Howard in the post as well as give enough touches for All-Star guard James Harden.
