UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is no stranger to controversy, usually a mess he finds himself in when he starts yapping.

There are times when he does exemplify it in another way, like through his Instagram account. But a photo showing a masked man (likely McGregor) holding a submachine gun on a BMW i8 has become the talk of the town.

With Ireland having strict laws on guns, McGregor may have a lot of explaining to do. But the thing is it may be an issue that will hardly harm his credibility.

The Bloody Elbow bares that the guns is likely the same air-soft pellet gun the Irishman has shown in the past, so end of issue and story.

Apparently McGregor confirmed the belief and issued an apology via Fox Sports.

"I apologize for having the air-soft in public," McGregor wrote on his Instagram on Friday night. "I was simply rehearsing for a potential upcoming film role."

While it was not mentioned which film that McGregor was talking about, it may likely be the one involving Vin Diesel for “XXX: The Return of Xander Cage”.

With that issue clarified, McGregor is likely to get off easily for such.

McGregor is scheduled to return to the Octagon this March for UFC 197 where he will have his first taste of the lightweight class against champion Rafael dos Anjos as reported by ESPN.

It will be one of two big fights for UFC 197, the other one of which will see reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm facing Miesha Tate.
