Frankie Edgar is the leading contender to face Conor McGregor for the UFC featherweight title, but that opportunity may have to wait.

This is of course with reference to reports that McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos will be facing off at UFC 197 this March. It will be actually a twin-bill with UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm facing Miesha Tate in the other main event match.

With that set, Edgar’s worst fear has now been made official. With McGregor set to compete, it leaves him in waiting. But it seems he is not keen on the idea of being left idle, which is perhaps the reason why he plans to sit down with UFC president Dana White and chairman Lorenzo Fertita.

Edgar is scheduled to travel to Las Vegas to find out where he stands with the recent turn of events.

“I’ve got to weigh some things out," Edgar told the LA Times. "Do I want to wait for Conor -- could something happen? Someone get injured? Do I want to wait for that fight or fight and make some money? That’s what I’m weighing right now."

And with that, a lot of things are going on in Edgar’s mind right now.

Edgar wants a shot at McGregor, but he has a lot to think about.
